Paper
It's time to cut the FAT
It is time to organize your papers, as you clean your office for 2008. Remember the FAT principle:
- FILE - what you need for later by creating reference files
- ACT - on those papers that require action, by noting the date in your calendar and creating a tickler system
- TOSS - shred or throw out paper you do not need

Process
Email
- Move all your 2007 emails to a folder marked 2007
- Start 2008 with a fresh clean inbox
- Now apply the FAT system to your email using the 4 D's:
Ditch - toss what you don't need. Deal with things immediately that will take 30 seconds or less. Delegate what you can and Decide what to do with each email - do you want to watch it, folow up, task it, make an appointment or attach it to a current event or contact.
