January 2007
We missed December's newsletter! Yikes, sometimes, it happens even to the best of us. As many of you know, I lost my older brother, Mark, in a tragic accident the first week of November. He inspired me in my entrepreneurial endeavors as he was a free spirit himself - a product of the Julliard school who dedicated his life to the development of symphonies around the world. He enjoyed my newsletter too! He will be missed.
As we move in to our new year, one of the things we look at is our goals. In today's newsletter, refer to the "Process" section and use our scorecard to guide you where you might need some help in organization so you can achieve your goals.
Please note two special events this month, our free Taming the Paper Tiger webinar and a GO System seminar (At this time the January class is full, however, there are two more classes scheduled in the near future - see the "upcoming events" section below.)
I am looking forward to the new year with all of you!
Best regards, Anne
Frustrated by the all the paper involved in your bill paying routine? Here are a few tips to help tame the paper tiger:
File your mail and bills right when they arrive so they don't get misplaced.
Create a bill-paying tickler file and put the bill in a specific location, easily found for bill paying time.
Schedule a regular time to pay your bills.
Make sure you schedule your bill paying time on your calendar, so that bills are paid timely, for instance once a week or twice a month with plenty of time for mailing.
Toss those extra advertising inserts that come with your bills immediately and file them open and flat.
File your bills immediately after you pay them so you have good accounting records for taxes and year end.
Consider online bill paying services with your bank, or the vendors directly, to eliminate the paper trail. You'll still have an electronic trail.
Create a bill paying tickler system
Expectations
Last month we talked about about hiring an assistant and now you have looked at all of the issues, and decided that you are truly ready to bring an employee on board. Now what?
You can use the Register Model to design your specific expectations. Brainstorming in this way allows you to see all of the components youll want to consider.
For example:
R egister job description
E xpectations skills, qualifications
G oals objectives
I mplementation timing
S imple systems job procedures
T ips benefits
E xtra Resources others who can help
R evisit reviews
